Car Rental at Mauritius Airport

Mauhire meets you in the arrivals hall of Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport (SSR, code MRU) at Gate 5/6, hands you the keys after a short joint inspection, and you drive away. There is no rental desk to queue at and no security deposit on your card.

We are a Mauritian car rental company (Mauhire Car Rental Ltd) and have been renting cars to visitors since 2015. Our base is at the airport in Plaine Magnien, so the car is ready when you land.

How airport pick-up works

  1. Book online and pay a 10% deposit. The rest is paid when you collect the car, by card or in cash.
  2. Land and collect your luggage, then walk through customs into the arrivals hall.
  3. Find our representative at Gate 5/6, holding a sign with your name.
  4. Check the car together. We note the fuel level and any existing marks on a form we both sign, then you are on your way.

The excess is the most you pay if the car is damaged or stolen. For rentals of 3 days or more you can reduce it to zero with our premium cover.

How far is your hotel from the airport?

Where do I meet Mauhire at Mauritius airport?

In the arrivals hall of SSR International Airport. After customs, our representative waits at Gate 5/6 holding a sign with your name.

Is there a security deposit?

No. You pay a 10% deposit online to confirm the booking and the balance when you collect the car, by card or in cash. Nothing is blocked on your credit card.

What insurance is included?

Every rental includes Collision Damage Waiver, Third Party and Theft Protection. The excess is €500 for Mini, Economy and Family cars, €700 for MPVs and €1000 for SUVs, pick-ups and luxury cars. For rentals of 3 days or more you can reduce the excess to zero for a daily supplement.

What documents do I need?

Your original driving licence, held for at least 12 months, and your passport. If your licence is not written in the Roman alphabet (for example Chinese or Arabic), bring an International Driving Permit as well. The minimum age is 18.

What are your opening hours?

Our office is open every day from 06:00 to 22:00, and support is available 24/7 during your rental. If your flight lands outside office hours, message us on WhatsApp before you book.

Can I collect the car at my hotel instead?

Yes, we also deliver to hotels and villas. Send us your address and dates and we will confirm.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancel 5 working days or more before pick-up for a full refund. Later cancellations are not refunded. Full details are in our terms and conditions.
